Murder arrest after man's body discovered in house

A man was arrested on suspicion of murder after the discovery of a body inside a home.

Police were called to an address in Ellesmere Port at 3.15am following a concern for the welfare of a male.

Patrols discovered a body inside the property when they attended the Blakemere Court house.

Detectives are treating the death as suspicious and a 22-year-old man from the Ellesmere Port area has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He is being held in custody and is set to be questioned this afternoon.

Formal identification of the body has not yet taken place.

Detectives believe the death is part of an "isolated incident".

Officers are currently at the address as enquiries continue, while a second scene, at nearby Westminster Bridge, is also said to be linked to the investigation, Cheshire Live reported.

Detective Inspector Nigel Reid, of Cheshire Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: “I would like to reassure members of the community that this appears to be an isolated incident and we are doing everything we can to establish exactly what has taken place.

“We are at the very early stages of our investigation.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone with any information that may help our investigation to get in touch."

Anyone with details can contact Cheshire Police by calling 101 or can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
