A man arrested on suspicion of murder was being questioned today after an electrician was found beaten to death in south London.
The body of Krasimir Kartikov, 60, was found at his home in Whitehorse Road, Croydon, on Monday morning.
Police launched a murder probe and a 44-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night, Scotland Yard confirmed.
A post-mortem examination on Wednesday gave the cause of Mr Kartikov’s death as “multiple injuries”.
Detective Chief Inspector Helen Rance, who is leading the investigation, said the victim’s family are “understandably devastated at the death”.
The Bulgarian national is thought to have lived alone in the ground-floor bedsit near Selhurst station.
A man who worked for him said: “Krasimir was a good man. I am shocked by everything.”
DCI Rance said: "Our investigation is moving quickly but we are keen to speak to anyone who saw or spoke to Krasimir after 4pm on the afternoon of Saturday, January 11.
"We would also ask anyone who may have been in the Whitehorse Road area to think back as to whether they heard any kind of disturbance or saw anything unusual that Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday.
"Krasimir's family are understandably devastated at the death of their loved one and we are committed to finding out exactly what happened that night and bringing the person/s responsible to justice."
