A man has appeared in court charged with murder one year after a body was discovered in a Fife industrial estate.
The remains of Ean Coutts, 61, were found near Whitehill Industrial Estate, Glenrothes, Fife on September 27, 2020.
Now David Barnes, 31, from Fife has appeared in court charged with his murder.
He also faces charges of fraud, theft, and attempt to pervert the course of justice.
Barnes made no plea when he appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody.
It comes after an investigation was launched which revealed in January this year that the body was that of Mr Coutts.
Police at that time said they were treating the death of the 61-year-old, who lived in the nearby village of Kinglassie, as suspicious.
A statement from Fife Police Division reads: "Following enquiries into the death of Ean Coutts, whose remains were found in the Whitehill Industrial Estate, Glenrothes on 27 September, 2020, Police Scotland can confirm that a 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death."
Barnes is expected to appear again within eight days.
