'Muppets' spotted cycling Glasgow hire bikes on Arran 'in breach of covid rules'

A pair of 'muppets' thought to be breaching covid lockdown rules have come under fire after being spotted on 'Glasgow' bikes cycling in Brodick on the Isle of Arran.

The two were spotted yesterday morning cycling on the rental bikes - which are emblazoned with a 'People Make Glasgow' sign on them - along the pavement next to the shoreline in the village, which is located over 50 miles away from Glasgow.

The angry local who spotted them believes that the pair will have arrived on the island having taken the ferry over from Ardrossan that morning - having possibly travelled by train from Glasgow Central station.

They took to Twitter to express their frustration, tweeting: "Yo, Nextbike UK. I’ve just seen two of your Glasgow bikes in Brodick, on the Isle of Arran.

"As much as I like to see people on the bikes, these muppets are breaking lockdown rules going outside of the local authority area. Also, why did CalMac let them on the boat?"

On April 2 the 'stay at home' rule was replaced by a requirement to 'stay local', allowing people across Scotland to make non-essential journeys in their local authority area.

This 'stay local' message is due to remain in place for for three weeks, with people still being urged not to travel outside their local authority area for non-essential reasons during this period.
