Cameron Munster has taken part in Queensland's first training session on the Gold Coast in a positive sign he will be fit for next week's State of Origin opener.
The five-eighth has been battling a foot injury but joined his Maroons teammates at CBUS Super Stadium on Thursday for the squad's first run under new coach Paul Green.
While last year's player of the series is increasingly looking like he'll play in Townsville next Wednesday, doubts remain over AJ Brimson after he was unsighted during the brief training period media were allowed to observe.
The Gold Coast fullback, who could feature as a utility off the bench or as the starting No.1 after Kalyn Ponga's (groin) withdrawal, hurt his knee in last weekend's NRL loss to Cronulla.
Munster's Melbourne teammate Christian Welch was hopeful Munster would be fine to take on NSW in game one.
"I can confirm he's been a pest," Welch said.
"I think those guys under an injury cloud have really come through well and I think they're looking at training the majority of camp."
Fellow Storm player, hooker Harry Grant, was also training despite having been sidelined recently with a hamstring injury.
The rake is looking increasingly likely to take his place in the No.9 jersey, with back-up Reed Mahoney a chance to leave the camp on Saturday in order to play for Parramatta against Newcastle in the NRL on Sunday.
Thursday's run was one of three sessions for the Maroons on the Gold Coast before they fly to Townsville on Monday for the sold-out clash, after the game was shifted from Melbourne because of COVID-19 concerns.
The Blues, stacked with backline weapons and captained by James Tedesco, will start favourites with bookies to win the series despite games one and two being hosted north of the border, in Townsville and Brisbane
