Munster starlet John Hodnett out until new year with injury

Munster starlet John Hodnett has suffered an achilles tendon injury that will keep his sidelined until into the new year.

The promising 21-year-old back row sustained the injury in training and will undergo surgery early next week.

Hodnett, a former Ireland under-20 international, made his senior debut for the province in February and has made five appearances to date.

Munster have confirmed that another player has suffered a positive Covid-19 test from Monday's PCR testing.

The player is self-isolating and remains well, and no other players have been identified as close contacts.

Alex McHenry (thumb) and Liam Coombes (hamstring) are also out of Sunday's PRO14 clash with Ospreys at Thomond Park.
