Munster sign emerging Ulster prop Callum Reid on six-week loan

Munster have snapped up emerging Ulster prop Callum Reid on a six-week loan to provide front row cover.

Reds scrum coach Graham Rowntree confirmed this week that Ireland international Dave Kilcoyne will be out through injury for another two months, and added that Munster were not ruling out bringing in someone else to help out.

Also on the casualty list are Jeremy Loughman, Liam O'Connor and Academy prop James French.Prior to bringing Reid on board, the only two loosehead props that Munster had available were James Cronin and Josh Wycherley, who made his senior team bow in last Monday night's PRO14 victory over Cardiff Blues.

Reid, 21, is seen as a good prospect and has been training with the Ulster senior squad since the start of the current season.

He will be among plenty of familiar faces at Munster's high performance centre as he was a Grand Slam winner with the Ireland under-20s last year alongside Wycherley, Craig Casey, Jake Flannery, Sean French, John Hodnett and Jonathan Wren.
