Munster's win over Leinster hailed as 'best contest in decades'

Munster's win over Leinster has been hailed as the 'best contest in decades' after Graham Rowntree's side upset the odds at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

Leinster were heavy favourites heading into the game but Jack Crowley's 78th-minute drop goal secured a memorable victory for the visitors in a classic clash.

And the game was hailed as one of the all-time great contests between the two bitter rivals, with Donal Lenihan calling it the 'best contest in decades'.

Speaking to RTE, he said: ""They have waited long and hard for this.

"What a game. It's the best contest between Munster and Leinster in decades.

"It came down to a fine margin in the end, Crowley, he just had the confidence to go for it.

"It was a phenomenal game, the second year in a row Leinster, who have led the URC all season, go out in the semi-final hurdle.

"Munster, this is an endorsement of the management team. Fitness, staying power, they got their reward today, what a game!"

Munster will now face the Stormers in South Africa in the URC final on May 27, while Leinster take on La Rochelle in the Champions Cup final at the Aviva Stadium next Saturday in a repeat of last year's final.
