Munster's United Rugby Championship opener put back a day due to King Charles' visit to Cardiff

Munster's URC opener in Cardiff has been put back to Saturday due to the visit of King Charles to the Welsh capital on Friday.

The Reds were due to begin the new campaign on Friday night but URC have announced that the Cardiff Arms Park tie will instead kick off the following day, with kick off at 3.05pm.

According to URC, "significant logistical challenges have occurred" due to the visit of the new King and the Queen's Consort.

"Broadcast facilities for both the host broadcaster (BBC Wales) and other TV facilities providers will be engaged in the coverage of the visit and the drain on available resources has resulted in the rescheduling of the game," said URC in a statement.

"The BKT United Rugby Championship would like to thank both Cardiff Rugby and Munster for their understanding in this matter which has occurred under very unique circumstances. It is also appreciated that BBC Wales made every effort to keep the fixture in its original date and time slot."

URC have also confirmed that all of the other round one games will go ahead as scheduled, so Ulster's home derby clash with Connacht will go ahead at Kingspan Park on Saturday night (7.35pm).

Leinster start their campaign away to Zebre on Saturday (1pm).
