Munster's JJ Hanrahan reportedly set to join Clermont Auvergne this summer

Munster out-half JJ Hanrahan is reportedly set for a move to Clermont Auvergne this summer when his contract expires.

According to RMS Sports in France, the Kerry native will sign a two-year deal with the Top 14 giants.

”A two-year contract is mentioned,” said RMC Sport. “At the end of his contract at Munster, Hanrahan will join the Top 14 and Auvergne next summer. He will be responsible for wearing the number ten of the Jaunards, in competition with Camille Lopez.”

The 28-year-old was rumoured to be leaving the province at the end of the season as he battles for game time with fit-again Joey Carbery as well as academy prospects Jack Crowley, Ben Healy and Jake Flannery for game time.

The move to Stade Marcel Michelin would see him vie for the number ten jersey with France out-half Camille Lopez.

The move would signal Hanrahan's second stint outside of Ireland, having previously played for Northampton Saints between 2015 and 2017.

Hanrahan has earned 140 caps for the Reds since making his debut in 2012 after coming through the academy ranks.
