Munster are reportedly interested in signing former French international Mathieu Bastareaud on a short-term contract.
The Toulon centre has already committed to join Rugby United New York in January but is said to be open to a move in the interim.
And RTE Sport report that Munster have expressed their interest in the big centre after Jaco Taute's move to Leicester at the end of last season.
Bastareaud was left out of France's World Cup training squad, prompting him to retire from the international game.
But it is understood that Munster are interested in bringing him to Ireland before his move to the USA.
