Munster avoids ban out of Origin II

Queensland's Cameron Munster is free to play in Melbourne's NRl clash with the Sydney Roosters. (AAP)

Cameron Munster has avoided a ban for sliding his knees into James Tedesco, escaping from State of Origin II without a match review committee charge.

In potentially the only bright piece of news for Queensland after Sunday night's massacre, the NRL has confirmed no players were charged out of the clash.

That means Munster will be free to play for Melbourne on Thursday night against the Sydney Roosters, after staring down the barrel of his third incident in four games.

Even the most minor of charges would have resulted in a ban for the Storm star after he chased through on a Ben Hunt kick and collided with the Blues fullback.

Munster was handed a contrary conduct charge for kicking Liam Martin in Origin I, before copping the same charge days later for the Storm against the Warriors.

Any player who has had two offences in one season cannot accept a fine for a third charge.

Meanwhile, Jillaroos captain Ali Brigginshaw will miss the opening round of the NRLW for a hair pull.

Brigginshaw was handed a contrary conduct charge for yanking at Kennedy Cherrington's hair in a tackle in the Maroons' Origin win, meaning she will miss a game even with an early guilty plea.

The Queensland captain admitted to pulling at Cherrington's after the match, claiming the NSW forward drove her shoulder into her jaw.
