Munich - The Edge of War Netflix release date, trailer and what to expect from the British drama film

A brand new British film about the run-up to the Second World War is coming to Netflix.

Munich - The Edge of War will star George MacKay, Jannis Niewöhner and Jeremy Irons.

Irons (an Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award-winning star) will play British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in this hotly anticipated film.

The film is based on a book by the acclaimed author Robert Harris. He is also responsible for the political thriller The Ghost, which became a film titled The Ghost Writer starring Ewan McGregor.

Other works of his to become films include An Officer and a Spy (starring Louis Garrel, Christophe Maratier and Pierre Poirot) and Enigma (Dougray Scott, Kate Winslet and Saffron Burrows).

While Munich - The Edge of War has already been given a limited theatrical release in the UK, it will soon hit the streaming platform Netflix.

The film is coming to Netflix on January 21.

What to expect from Munich - The Edge of War?

The official Netflix synopsis says: "It is Autumn 1938 and Europe stands on the brink of war. Adolf Hitler is preparing to invade Czechoslovakia and Neville Chamberlain's government desperately seeks a peaceful solution.

"With the pressure building, Hugh Legat, British civil servant, and Paul von Hartmann, German diplomat, travel to Munich for the emergency Conference. As negotiations begin, the two old friends find themselves at the centre of a web of political subterfuge and very real danger. With the whole world watching, can war be averted and, if so, at what cost?"
