Mums share emotional photos of their 'beautiful and magical' home births

Mums have been sharing the emotional photos which captured their 'amazing' homebirths.

It's not for everyone, and for some higher risk pregnancies it's not even an option, but parents told us that when it all goes to plan, it's 'just perfect'.

We asked mums to share their photos with us on our Manchester Family Facebook page as we celebrated Thursday's National Homebirth Day.

And we were inundated with images of mums holding their precious bundles moments after birth, as well as pictures of older children who were born at home.

Antonia Walsh shared a photo of the whole family round the birthing pool after they'd watched her have youngest son Fionn.

She said: "I had my youngest at home, he’ll be two in July. I had both his older brothers with me and they absolutely loved seeing their brother enter the world. They were five and two at the time.

"It’s literally one of my most favourite days. I absolutely loved being at home, it was so relaxed and natural. Just perfect."

And Kylie Wade told us it was an 'empowering' experience.

She said: "I had a planned homebirth with my second daughter. I had an amazing midwife and it was extremely empowering after a traumatic emergency c-section with my first daughter."

Natalie Qureshi is a hypnobirthing teacher based in Prestwich and has supported a lot of mums with 'successful positive homebirths'.

She said: "Home offers quietness, privacy, familiarity and comfort, which are all really important when it comes to giving birth.

"Women find it great that they don’t have to get in a car to get to a hospital during labour, and that they can have those first new born snuggles in their own beds.

"The NHS across Greater Manchester have recently introduced new ‘continuity of carer’ midwifery teams, so ask your midwife if you are interested in having your baby at home."
