Mums say play area for children should replace Nottingham city centre pizza restaurant

After serving its last pizza, calls are being made for a city restaurant to offer something completely different instead - a children's play centre.

PizzaStorm, in Milton Street, allowed diners to create their own pizzas from over 50 different toppings.

Initially named Inferno Pizza and opening in 2015, the restaurant underwent a £250,000 revamp with a new name, new decor and an updated menu.

But the eatery, which is opposite the intu Victoria Centre, has now closed its doors permanently and thanked its customers for their support.

Calls have now been made for the closed diner to be replaced by a children's play centre.

Sarah Nixon, 39, who lives in Bulwell, said the city is lacking indoor play areas for children and the idea would go down well with parents.

"I think we need a nice space for the kids to play. It would be good as its right opposite the Victoria Centre," she said.

"I have two young kids and I don't think there's loads of opportunities for them to play in Nottingham. There's crazy golf and Planet Bounce but I can't think of much else."

Mum-of-three Carla Briggs, 29, of Arnold, added: "I love bringing the kids into town and think it would be a great idea for them to burn off some energy.

"It's quite a big store so I reckon you could fit some form of a play area in there."

Calls for the former eatery to become another restaurant, a clothes store and a place to support homeless people were also made by passers by.

Kevin Clark, 59, of St Ann's said: "Why not offer something else and turn it into a hostel for the homeless?" he said.

"It's a growing issue in the city, the more support we provide the better. It didn't work as a restaurant so why go back to that - turn it into something that will change lives."
