Mums are putting up upside down Christmas trees from Amazon after an 'upside down year' - and the bizarre trend is catching on

Mums are putting up upside down Christmas trees from Amazon after an 'upside down year' - and the bizarre trend is catching on.

The trees are exactly the same as tradition festive firs, but with one fundamental difference - they're upside down.

The trees come with a stand which holds the narrowest part of the tree in place and decorations hang off it almost giving the illusion they're suspended in mid-air.

Amazon sell a host of different upside down trees, all raging in price from as little as £30 right up to £220.

One mum, Cheryl Johnson was getting ahead of the trend, shared a picture of her fully decorated upside down Christmas tree on Facebook and said it reflected the events of the year.

She said: "So this year an upside down tree , for an upside down year ,something different xx from this to this. Tree Purchased on line."

But the quirky tree divided opinion, with some saying they were 'confused' and 'dizzy' looking at it.

One said: "The decorations on it are stunning but it’s making me feel super dizzy."

Another added: "Hoooooollllyyyy moooooollllyyyyyyyy it’s so pretty but I feel so dizzy looking at it."

"Well thats enough Internet today," added another.

A fourth said: "It’s beautiful, it’s different, it’s driving me crazy so not for me."

"It’s looks so nice but I just don’t get it! It’s just confusing me!" said a fifth.

Another added: "It looks amazing but it's playing with my head."

But others agreed the upside down tree perfectly summed up 2020.

One said: "I personally think it’s a perfect 2020 Christmas tree, definitely is this year to a tee!! Looks beautiful too."

Another added: "Well it is keeping with the upside down year we have been having."

"Great idea! I think without the icicle looking decorations would look better as they're still hanging down (thanks gravity ) but every single other thing is upside down. Lovely, quirky idea though!" said a third.

A fourth said: "That's weird! but beautiful! at the same time! Upside down tree for a upside down year!!"

Another added: "We've had an upside down year so might aswell have a upside down tree. Its very beautiful and a great idea."
