Mumbles is one of the 'coolest postcodes' in the UK, according to The Times

Mumbles has been named one of the "coolest" places to live, in an article by one of Britain's most-respected daily newspapers, The Times.

In the piece, entitled "The Coolest Postcodes To Move To In 2022," journalists at the newspaper list their 12 "hottest postcodes" for 2022 from across the UK - and SA3 Mumbles makes a stellar appearance.

Labelled the best place to relocate for "stylish seasiders," Mumbles is dubbed "the Hamptons of Wales" and reporters celebrate the area’s “sand, sea and beautiful sunsets” and “booming foodie scene”.

SA3 Mumbles appears in the article alongside NG1 in Nottingham, NE67 in Northumberland and TA13 in Somerset, to name a few.

It’s the only Welsh postcode to make an appearance in the list – but this isn’t the first time The Times has celebrated the area.

Mumbles was previously listed as one of the best places to live in the UK in March 2020 - before the pandemic swept across the UK.

At the time, the area was praised for its Oyster Wharf development and the proposed £300,000 skatepark – but this time around it’s the food and views which are cause for celebration.

'Mumbles is fast becoming the Hamptons of Wales'

In The Coolest Postcodes To Move To In 2022, journalist Hannah Evans writes: "For stylish seasiders: SA3, Mumbles, Swansea.

"Whisper it: you don’t have to go to Cornwall for sand, sea and beautiful sunsets. With its stunning views and soaring property prices (they’ve been rising here more than in any other coastal area in the UK in recent years), Mumbles is fast becoming the Hamptons of Wales.

"Its booming foodie scene has also led to it being described as the new Padstow: check out bistro Môr for fine dining, or the Gower Seafood Hut for caught-that-morning calamari and its wildly popular cockle popcorn.

"Last summer, four million oysters were added to the water off Mumbles, so expect a selection of oyster bars to be popping up soon.

"Stop by the green and white beach huts of Langland Bay, Mumbles’s most desirable address, for the best pics, before having dinner at Langland’s Brasserie.

"Or make your way further down into the Gower peninsula to hang out with the surfer crowd (and if you’re lucky, some dolphins).
"In the know: The locally made Welsh Brew tea, like a Welsh kombucha, is the thing to drink."
