Mumbai selectors' absence irks Dilip Vengsarkar

MUMBAI: Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar has come down heavily on the absence of Mumbai's senior selectors in the final of the Salar Jung Cricket tournament, organised by Islam Gymkhana on Sunday.

Speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution function, Vengsarkar lamented: "These players are the future of Mumbai and Indian cricket who would like to impress the selectors by their performance in such a major tournament. If the selectors do not have time to watch local matches then they don't deserve to be there. They are doing injustice to these upcoming cricketers by not watching them perform."

Mumbai's senior selection committee is led by former India pacer Salil Ankola, and includes Gulam Parkar, Sunil More, Prasad Desai and Anand Yalvigi.
