Mumbai: Schools to conduct first unit tests in offline mode

MUMBAI: Two years after staying online, the schools are finally all set to conduct their first unit tests this month. The schools are looking forward to complete their quarterly tests this month and first semester exams before Diwali vacations by October end.

However, principals said that students are still slow on writing, which was affected by online learning.

“To help the students, we have reduced the chapters for first unit test,” said the principal of an Andheri school that will be conducting the test in the second week of August.

“Students still have to get used to writing offline exams. The unit test will show where they stand,” said a Dadar school principal, that is conducting the test in the third week of August.

The schools are especially focusing on class 10th students who are back to studying the entire syllabus. For two years, the syllabus was reduced by 75%. A school in Kandivli has even engaged their higher class students in clay activities to perfect the dissociation of hand, thumb and finger, necessary for writing.
