MUMBAI: Though the city's air quality index (AQI) improved on Wednesday as against Tuesday, it remained at a poor level (AQI 200).
On Tuesday the AQI of Mumbai was 262 which was worse than Delhi (209).
On Wednesday, however, Delhi's AQI (269) worsened as against that of Mumbai which showed an improvement over the last 24 hours.
According to experts Mumbai 's proximity to the coast, which gets the breeze from across the sea, is a blessing as it helps disperse the smoke and dust in air. Else, they say, Mumbai's pollution would have been worse than Delhi's which is among the world's most polluted cities.
