Mumbaikars woke up to submerged roads and waterlogged tracks as heavy rainfall lashed the city on Tuesday night. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains at isolated places in the city and suburbs for today. Heavy showers will continue for the next two days, IMD has warned.
Daily commuters are in trouble as railway tracks are submerged in several areas like Sion. Traffic has been diverted due to waterlogged roads in several parts of the city.
Mumbai received 51 mm rains in three hours in the morning, according to Skymet officials. Intense showers are expected in next 2-3 hours over Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Palghar and Thane, predicts Skymet.
This morning, 8 people were left injured after three cars collided with each other in Andheri, due to low visibility following heavy rainfall in the city. Earlier this month, at least 30 people had died when a wall collapsed near Malad due to incessant rainfall.

6.30 pm: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday warned of heavy rainfall in the Thane district here over the next four hours.
"Intense spells of rain likely to occur in the Thane district during next four hours," a release by IMD Mumbai read.
The streets in Bhiwandi city here got waterlogged following heavy rainfall today.
The locals faced problems in moving around the city and the usual business was affected due to the waterlogging.

"Heavy rains have ensured sufficient water storage in our six reservoirs, which is good news for everyone," the civic official said.
2.29 pm: The local trains on the Western Line were, however, running as per schedule.
"Inspite of heavy rains during night, WR suburban services are running normal," the Western Railway tweeted.
