MUMBAI: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the Unified Control Command Centre (UCCC) of Western Railway at Mumbai Central on Sunday and later interacted with passengers at station and took feedback from them about cleanliness, punctuality and train services.
He also checked vendor stall about digital payment facilities.
Thereafter, he visited the unique Pod-concept retiring room at Mumbai Central and was impressed with the facilities provided at the same, an official said.
On visiting UCCC, he appreciated the unique initiative of Indian Railways which encompasses several advanced and state-of-the-art features. It comprises of segmented video walls in nine columns and two rows as well as 18 number of 55-inch TVs and eight control work stations for monitoring the core areas.
It provides for a seamless facility for Disaster Management on the Mumbai Division with streaming information on almost every aspect of relevance, including rainfall, flooding, trespassing as well as communication with external agencies.
The minister interacted with young railway officials and motivated them to take up challenges. He said that these young officers will lead railways to new pinnacles. He shared his vision of empowerment of Divisions with the young branch officers.
