Mumbai Police says ‘Cinema is a reflection of our society’ as it calls out misogynist Bollywood scenes from ‘Kabir Singh’ and more

The official Instagram handle of Mumbai Police is spreading awareness on women safety with several Bollywood scenes that sparked debate for its misogynist dialogues. The post featured films like ‘Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam’, ‘Maalamaal’, 'Dil Dhadakne Do’ and more. However, it’s Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer ‘Kabir Singh’ that made it to the list twice.

In one scene, Shahid as Kabir is seen telling his Girlfriend Preeti aka Kiara Advani to fix her dupatta in front of other men, while in the next he angrily tells a man that she is his ‘bandi.’

Talking about misogyny, the post was captioned as, “Cinema is a reflection of our society Here are (just) a few (of many) dialogues both our society & cinema need to reflect upon. Choose your words & actions with care - unless you want the law to intervene! आपण वापरलेला प्रत्येक शब्द हा आधी एक विचार असतो. दैनंदिन जीवनात, तसेच चित्रपटात वापरली जाणारी भाषा आपल्या विचारांचे प्रतिबिंब आहे. प्रत्येक शब्द विचारपूर्वक वापरा! #LetsNotNormaliseMisogyny #MindYourLanguage#WomenSafety”
