Mumbai: NCP leader Nawab Malik gets court nod for shifting hospital for renal scan

MUMBAI: A special court granted NCP leader Nawab Malik’s plea seeking permission for a renal scan. Malik was arrested in February in a money laundering case and has been in jail since then.

Malik was admitted to a private hospital in May following health issues. He said the scan advised by doctors was not available at that private hospital. “The nephrologist and urologist said the test is necessary for further treatment. The case is made out by the applicant to shift him to Jeeyo PET CT & Nuclear Imaging Centre at Sarvodaya Hospital, Ghatkopar, for renal scan…” the court said. The court noted that it was not the case of the prosecution that Malik had misused liberty during hospitalization at Criti Care Asia Hospital, Kurla. “The applicant (Malik) undertakes to bear costs of the said the scan…” the court said.
