MUMBAI: The Maharashtra State Goods and Services Tax Department on Friday arrested a director of a firm dealing in metal and scrap for accepting bogus invoices of Rs 162 crore and availing a fake input tax credit (ITC) to the tune of Rs 29.17 crore.
The accused businessman, Deepak Karia, is a director of Everant Feromat Private Ltd. He was arrested from Girgaon and has been sent to 14 days’ judicial custody.
