Mumbai: EOW to probe frauds worth Rs 10 crore or more

MUMBAI: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), a specialised unit of city police that probes white collar crimes, will now investigate cases only where the amount involved in an economic crime is Rs 10 crore or more.

An order, increasing the cap from Rs 6 crore to Rs 10 crore, has been issued by police commissioner Hemant Nagrale. Financial fraud cases where the amount is less Rs 10 crore will be investigated by the local police station.

There are reports that a post of an additional commissioner of police in EOW is likely to be created soon. Currently, the EOW is headed by a joint commissioner rank officer.
