MUMBAI: The PMLA court has rejected a plea by "prime witness" Swapna Patker to intervene in Sanjay Raut's remand proceedings. Patker, who had complained that she was threatened at Raut's behest, pleaded that since she is a victim and a prime witness, she intends to assist the prosecution and wishes to be heard.
Special judge MG Deshpande, however said that the "abrupt intervention stands rejected." The judge said there was no provision to entertain such a plea. "It cannot be ignored that if any threats have been given by the accused or anybody else...on his behalf, the affected person can approach authority. If said authorities is not taking cognisance, remedy provided by law is different," the judge said.
