Mumbai court fines man Rs 1,250 for wrong side riding

MUMBAI: A 34-year-old Colaba businessman who rode his motor bike on the wrong side had to stand trial and was recently convicted by a magistrate’s court. The man was asked to pay a total fine of Rs 1,250.

The court said that releasing the accused Vasim Siddiqui only with a fine will meet the ends of justice to the offence committed.

“In the present matter, admittedly no injury or damage is cause to anyone. There is no criminal antecedent. Age of the accused shows that he is very young. Therefore, he deserved one chance to rectify the mistake. Therefore, it will not be proper to send him behind the bars,” the magistrate said. Siddiqui was found guilt for offences relating to rash driving or riding on a public way and under the endangering life or personal safety of others act.

An FIR was registered at Gamdevi police station. It was alleged that on August 27, 2021 traffic cop stopped the biker because he was driving on the wrong side of the road.
