Mumbai: CNG price hiked once again by Rs 2 per kg; Rs 16 hike for the green fuel in 2021

MUMBAI: The price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) will be hiked by Rs 2 per Kg, including taxes, from Saturday morning while the rate of piped cooking gas will go up by Rs 1.50 per unit.

The revised price of CNG is now Rs 63.50 per kg while piped gas revised rate is Rs 38 per unit.

This year, the CNG rate in the Mumbai metropolitan region has been hiked by around Rs 16 in 11 months -- which is a huge burden for over 8 lakh consumers, which includes over 3 lakh private car users apart from those in public transport like autos, taxis and buses.

Also, this is the fourth hike in the past three months. The Kaali Peeli taxi and autorickshaw unions are now demanding a hike of Rs 5 and Rs 2 respectively in minimum fares following the increase of CNG prices per Kg by Rs 16 this year.
