Mumbai: 4 held by Customs for smuggling 1.5 crore gold

MUMBAI: The Customs at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, on Thursday night seized 3.2kg gold worth Rs 1.48 crore, and arrested four passengers who had arrived from Dubai.

Officials said that these passengers had concealed the gold in DJ hooks of Rachet Lashing Belt. An official added that it was nearly impossible to figure out that the smuggled gold has been concealed in the brass hooks. These belts are used for cargo in order to lift heavy tools, and also as safety belts in heavy industries.
