Mum woken up to police van outside house after daughter's 18th party

A mum was woken by a police van outside her house after throwing a birthday party for her 18 year old daughter.

Rachael Seager said she was woken up at 7.50am and went "flying downstairs to see what the problem was" after 20 of her daughter's friends stayed over for a sleepover.

The mum told the ECHO: "We had a big party in Liscard and then they came back here.

"We had a disco dome that they were staying over in in the garden.

"I stayed up until half four with them to monitor how loud the music was and they were just so well behaved. They were so chilled and respectful of the house, so I was like 'right I'm going to bed.'

"I got woken up by one of the girls from the army college who said 'Rach there's a police van at the door."

Rachael said the police officer then asked where her daughter was, who was asleep with her friends in the garden, before they told her what had happened.

One of the teenager's who had been at the party had been attacked by a gang of three men on his way home.

The victim was found by police with serious head injuries on Old Chester Road in New Ferry at around 7am on Saturday, September 11.

He had been out celebrating a friend's 18th birthday at a venue in Liscard on Friday night, before going back to her house for a sleepover with around 20 other friends.

The young man had left the party at around 6am that morning to go home when he was attacked by three men on Old Chester Road, between the junction with Green Lawn and Byrne Avenue.

He was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for treatment of his head injuries.

Rachael said the man who was attacked was about to devote his life to serving in the Army and was a "lovely and respectful" man, who is a "credit to his mum."

Merseyside Police has issued an appeal to find the men responsible for the attack, who are described as white, aged in their 20s, with long hair and dark clothing.

Detective Inspector Tom Clarke said: “This was an appalling attack leaving a man injured, and we are working hard to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

"If you were in the Old Chester Road area in the early hours of Saturday morning, witnessed the incident or have any dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage locally which might identify the suspects, please let us know.

"Such despicable behaviour has no place in Merseyside and we'll do all we can to put those responsible before the courts."
