A mum whose son was gunned down 10 years ago feels she could be obliviously walking past his killer in her daily life.
Joey Cummins was shot dead as he was getting into a taxi in what became locally known as "The Murder in the Mist" because of the thick fog that evening.
The 25-year-old was hit with three bullets in his back as he was about to get in a Delta cab, driven by his friend, at around 9pm, on January 20, 2011.
It happened a decade ago on Longmoor Lane in Fazakerley outside Joey's nan's home, where he was living at the time.
A number of arrests were made by detectives some years ago, but there has been little new information in recent times.
Today, Carol Cummins, Joey's mum, urged people with any information about her son's killing to come forward.
The nursing assistant told the ECHO : "It's 10 years on, and I [could still be] walking past a killer.
"As a family, we would have met and gone out to mark his passing, but because of the lockdown we can't.
"But we'll go to the cemetery as individuals.

"I have a lot of anxiety and anger about Joey's death inside me, still, and I'm sure people know about it, and I just wish they would help.
"It eats you up inside knowing the person responsible is out there, I could have even spoken to him.
"Even if someone put a letter under my door, telling me some information, that would be okay.
"I've no idea why Joey was shot, he was 25, as his mum you can't be at his back all the time.
"He was very loving, and loved his little nephews and now has a niece he never met.
"How can these people sleep knowing they've murdered him?
"But then, they can as they're hard-faced."
The mum-of-two was walking home from work on the night of the murder and heard the sirens heading towards Longmoor Lane, but thought little about it until she received a phone call from her daughter telling her to rush to the hospital.
A surgeon was waiting for her, and explained, "there’s nothing I can do."
A £20,000 reward remains in place for any information that leads to an arrest, charge and conviction.
Joey was an avid Liverpool FC fan and went to games home and away and previously attended Archbishop Beck school.
The mum-of-two added: "I'd thought maybe he'd been fighting, but there was police at the hospital and I heard the helicopter up in the sky.
"If there's a problem, why don't people just use their fists?
"I try to stay busy with work to occupy my mind so I don't dwell on what happened with Joey."
Five people have been arrested and questioned over Joey’s murder, but all were released on bail and nobody has ever been charged.
He was shot repeatedly before staggering and collapsing outside a car sales shop.
Police officers were travelling down Longmoor Lane when they came across Joey who had serious wounds.
Detectives think the murder had the hallmarks of a planned execution, and have examined why someone might have targeted Joey.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police's Serious Crime Review Unit, said: “It has now been 10 years since the murder of Joseph Cummins.
"Although a number of arrests have been made since his death in 2011 nobody has been charged and his family still have not got justice for his death.
“I want to take this opportunity to appeal for anyone who has information and has not yet come forward to take this opportunity to do so, to allow the family to get the answers they deserve.
“We carry out regular reviews to seek any new lines of enquiry or forensic opportunities and we believe there are people within the local community who have the information we need.
“Allegiances change over time.
"Over the course of the past 10 years, people may have moved from the area or had disputes and now feel in a position to talk to the police.
"We will ensure that any new evidence or information is closely investigated by officers, and you can tell us what you know directly or anonymously Crimestoppers.”
Anyone who thinks they can help should contact Merseyside Police @MerPolCC, call 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously.
