Mum who was diagnosed with coronavirus while pregnant gives birth to healthy baby boy

A woman who tested positive for coronavirus while pregnant has given birth to a healthy baby boy.

Paula was first admitted to the Royal Bolton Hospital when she was just 17-weeks pregnant.

She fell seriously ill with coronavirus and had to be intubated in the critical care unit.

Thankfully, medics were able to get her well again and home safely to continue her pregnancy.

Samuel Zion was born just before 4am this morning on Friday (February 5) weighing 8lb 3oz.

Paula said: “I’m so pleased that the staff who cared for me on critical care have been able to see a picture of our son, they looked after me so well. It makes me happy that I know it will make them happy.

“We wish Paula and her family all the very best and sincere congratulations. This news has really boosted the teams’ spirits.”
