Mum who worked at Walton jail and 'lit up room' found dead

A young mum-of-two who worked at HMP Liverpool was found dead at her home in Lancashire.

Hannah Jean Elizabeth Martin, 25, was found on January 21 in 2019. Daniel Walton, the father of one of Hannah's children, smashed a window in order to gain access to the property in Bilsborrow, near Preston after a friend expressed concern for her safety.

Mum Louise Whelan said Hannah "lit up the room when she entered it and was the life and soul of the party".

She said: "But she wasn't able to cope with things at certain times and we were used to rallying round her and trying to make things better."

14 ships full of cargo unable to dock in Liverpool

Fourteen ships have been left anchored for several days unable to enter Liverpool's ports.

The vessels, including a dozen container ships, have been stationed in the Irish Sea off Anglesey's coast, reports the daily post.

The vessels range in size from the 62,000 ton Eagle Hamilton tanker which left Ingleside in the USA on September 17 to the 1,900 ton cargo ship Amadeus Aquamarijn.

'Worst lurgy ever' spreading across one area of Merseyside

Growing numbers of people on Merseyside are coming down with a nasty cold they can't seem to shift.

Social media is full of people sharing their misery over bugs, with dozens reporting sickness today alone.

One man, who lives in Formby, said he has come down with the "worst lurgy he's ever had".
