Mum who left baby girl to die as she partied ‘wanted to be a Pretty Little Thing model’

A mum who left a tragic 20-month-old to die as she partied was desperate to be a model for Pretty Little Thing, it is claimed.

Verphy Kudi, now 19, partied in Coventry and Solihull, leaving her baby to die from starvation and an infection down on the south coast in Brighton.

She was seen tagging the company on Twitter in the build-up to tragic Asiah's death, and flaunting her latest outfits.

Sharing a selection of photos, Birmingham Live reports, she wrote: "#EveryBodyInPLT @four_models @OfficialPLT So your girl just applied, please like and retweet, sometimes just shoot your [basketball emoji]."

On the morning of the day her daughter was found, the mum-of-one had tried to sell concert tickets on Twitter, the Mail Online reports.

Verphy Kudi's 20-month-old daughter Asiah Kudi died at an address in the East Sussex city in December 2019.

She was taken to Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

A post-mortem examination and forensic tests found that Asiah's death was the result of neglect.

Kudi, now 19, appeared in the dock at Lewes Crown Court on Friday morning wearing a face mask.

She had been due to stand trial later this year but formally entered a guilty plea to a charge of manslaughter on Friday.

A spokesperson for Brighton and Hove City Council said: "We have been deeply saddened by this tragedy.

"The case is currently the subject of criminal proceedings, and the city's Safeguarding Children Partnership is also conducting a review of the circumstances into the tragic death of this young child.

"We have fully supported the police investigation, and are committed to working with the partnership in its review and taking learning from this.

"Asiah was not on a child protection plan and was not involved with social work services when she died."
