Mum who developed anxiety when her hair turned white wows fans on social media

A mum who developed anxiety and depression after her eyelashes and one eyebrow turned white has become a TikTok star - with users of the social media app praising her for her natural beauty.

Victoria Santiago suffered with tinea versicolor, a common fungal infection that causes discoloured patches on the skin, when she was a teenager.

She was always self-conscious about the way her skin looked, then in 2016 she was dealt a crippling blow when she developed vitiligo, another skin condition that turned some of her hair white.

Then her mental health took a turn as a result, but she's found comfort in an unlikely place as she became a TikTok sensation - as people say they 'love her natural look'.

What do you think about the woman's newfound fame? Let us know in the comments...

Victoria, from Kentucky in the US, said: "After developing vitiligo, I used to cry while looking in the mirror and have little meltdowns while doing my makeup.

"Being out in public was always hard especially when I stopped hiding it. Some people didn’t understand that I was trying to embrace it and instead would give unsolicited advice.

"Dealing with the stares from strangers and constant worry about what others were thinking gave me anxiety. I still at times deal with those same feelings.

Now, Victoria proudly shows off her unusual look on social media and people love it - she runs a TikTok page where she has over 40,000 followers and debunks myths about her condition.

In a popular video, Victoria can be seen trying to cover her white eyebrow with make-up.

The video has gained over 1.6 million views and 205,400 likes with many users leaving heartwarming comments praising Victoria’s natural appearance.

“You don’t need to cover that up, damn it looks stunning,” one user commented.

And another said: "Nah, I love your natural look without them."

"Please do a cruella deville cosplay you would look stunning, sis,” a third user wrote.

"To be honest, I love the natural look, it’s literally so cool to be born with that," a fourth person commented.

Victoria continued: "I feel like I’ve come a long way with how I feel about my appearance. I think a lot of it has to do with how I approach it mentally.

"Learning to accept being different has helped me accept my overall appearance. I’m sure like most people, I still have some off days but overall, I love myself.

"We live in a world with so many dark and negative things constantly in our faces, we need to be the light that shines through and overcomes any darkness or negativity."
