Mum who 'dangerously' filmed son dancing while at wheel is banned from driving

A mother has been banned from driving for a year after she filmed her child dancing in the car while she was at the wheel.

Kerry White, 35, posted the video on Facebook showing her toddler son moving along to the 90s classic song - 'Everybody's Free' by Rozalla.

In the 30-second clip, she can be heard laughing, waving and singing along and shouts 'show us your moves' while she was on the road in Scarborough, reports Teesside Live .

The little bobs his head to the music and looks at his mother.

The court has heard the incident happened on December 16, 2017, as they travelled along roads in the town.

A member of the public reported the matter to the police after watching the video, according to the York Crown Court.

Officers identified the vehicle and tracked it down to White's address, then recovered the original clip from her mobile phone.

White refused to answer questions about the incident during police interview and pleaded not guilty when she was charged with an account of dangerous driving.

Prior to her trial, she changed her plea to guilty and was given a 12-month ban and sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, states the report.

She was required to complete a 20-day unpaid work and to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Traffic constable Mark Patterson, from North Yorkshire Police, said: "As the footage clearly shows, Miss White's driving that day was highly irresponsible and incredibly dangerous.

"It's only through sheer luck she wasn't involved in a serious collision.

"Her blatant disregard for the safety of the child and traffic laws could have ended tragically and the consequences of her actions had she of lost control of her vehicle doesn’t bear thinking about.

"I’d like to thank the member of the public who reported this incident to us and I hope this message sends a clear message that this type of reckless behaviour will not be tolerated on our roads."
