Mum wheeling buggy attacked and 'dragged' into bushes by man in quiet Dublin park

People walking in isolated areas have been warned to be extremely vigilant following a sickening attack in North Dublin.

It has been reported that a woman was attacked in Blanchardstown while she was out pushing her baby in a buggy.

She was strolling in the park at Waterville when she was targeted suddenly by a man wearing a grey hoodie, Dublin Live reports.

Following the vicious attack, the man tried to drag the woman into the bushes but was unsuccessful.

Once he was unable to hold onto the woman, the man fled the scene running in the direction of Edgewood Lawns.

A furious local commented on the attack saying: "Why can't we be safe in our own areas? Why are women constantly needing to be extra careful & always need to be wary and scared on their own.

She added: "It's despicable. Poor woman, hope she and her child are ok."

Another said that the situation that woman was faced with was "awful" and that she couldn't "even imagine how terrified she must have felt."

In a statement to Dublin Live, Gardai said they "are investigating an alleged assault which occurred at approx. 1pm on 10 April at Waterville Park, Blanchardstown".

Investigations are currently ongoing and gardai are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward.

As well as this, it has been reported that someone has been seen 'flashing' members of the public in the area.
