Mum wants you to see these heartbreaking photos of girl, 6, battling chronic illness

A mum, whose daughter is in pain every day, has shared a series of emotional photos of her.

Poppy-Mae Jones has had from a bowel condition since she was born and experiences chronic stomach pain daily.

The six year old who is currently receiving treatment at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool has suffered from symptoms including sickness, appetite issues and headaches as a result of the illness.

In a bid to show the devastating impact the illness can have on a child, mum Sharon has shared the photos of her daughters journey, Cheshire Live reports.

Sharon said: "The pictures make me sad that she has suffered for most of her life.

"But I am also proud that at times when she could be sat complaining and moping about she is thinking of others and how to help them.

"Looking back at these has actually made me cry as I came across videos of her in agony.

"She has come so far and still has so far to go but myself and her dad are so unbelievable proud of Poppy-mae."

Poppy's bowels don't work as they should and she also has fructose malabsorbtion (a condition which stops the body absorbing fructose in foods) which causes cramping and pain.

Sharon said: "Poppy-Mae has suffered with her bowels since she was a baby.

"After years and years of tests, medication and lots and lots of tears, we were told her bowels don't work very well, resulting in mega rectum and colon."

But despite the chronic illness Poppy-Mae has raised thousands for Alder Hey and other charities since the age of five.

She began fundraising last year, raising more than £2,000 by walking several miles from Ellesmere Port to Chester Zoo with family and friends and has also set up a JustGiving page.

The youngster was fitted with a tube attached to her bowels to deliver medication to help try to reduce the size of her bowels and ease some of her pain.
