Mum urges public to look out for these symptoms after her children are diagnosed with coronavirus

One mum has warned the public to look out for these Covid-19 symptoms, after both of her children contracted the disease.

According to Mirror Online, Bettina Rowley's children developed high temperatures and a dry cough in a matter of hours.

Charlotte, five, and Frederick, three, were playing in the garden in their home in Fussen, Germany - that evening, their health had deteriorated and they both looked run-down.

Bettina told ABC news that they kids developed temperatures over 40 degrees - in 24 hours they had also developed a dry cough.

Ms Rowley contacted her doctor to get the children tested for coronavirus - both tests came back positive.

Bettina said: "On that day when they were positive, the health authorities called us and I said, ‘Look, I don't know what to do. I can't control their temperatures. They are starting to drink less and less.’"

Doctors advised her to take the kids to hospital - she was allowed to self-isolate with them in a room.

Medical staff taught Bettina how to use medical equipment in the room as they only wanted to enter in an absolute emergency.

Charlotte stopped being able to taste and both kid's white blood cell count was so low it meant their immune systems weren't working as well as they should.

Ms Rowley added: "They are always saying kids don't get sick. Now you are in hospital with both of your kids. You feel very, very lonely. Yeah. Very scared.”

Andrew Steer, who leads the infection and immunity research team at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Melbourne, said: "Because the disease appears to be mild in children, it may be actually that there are more cases in children".

Both Charlotte and Frederick have now made a full recovery from the virus.

Bettina and her husband hope their story can inform as many parents as possible about the symptoms in the hopes that they can catch the virus early on.
