Mum turned own son over to police after discovering his school massacre plan

A mum turned her teenage son in to police after learning he planned to carry out a mass shooting at his school.

The 17-year-old was plotting to kill and maim innocents on the anniversary of the Colombine High School massacre, according to reports in the US.

During the Washington DC attack, he intended to detonate pipe bombs and fire weapons until he was gunned down himself.

The teen's mum, identified only as Nicole, said she did the right thing by thwarting her child's evil plan.

She told CBS News : "It’s devastating. I know I did all I can do and that I made the right choice."

Sinister entries in the boy's notebook said he would "blast anyone in sight" and "kill everyone possible'.

The attack would have happened at College Place High School on April 20 next year, the network reports.

This will be the 21st anniversary of the shooting that claimed 13 innocent lives, plus those of evil murderers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

When Nicole wasn't satisfied with his explanation that it was creative writing, she got in touch with police, who agreed with her.

Troy Tomaras, College Place Police Chief, branded Nicole courageous, stating: "It's clearly very emotional for her. She loves her son."

The mum said she still loves her son, and hopes he gets the support he needs.

He had said he was suffering from depression, Nicole stated.

She said she was worried about the teen's mental health, and hopes he gets the help he needs.
