Mum transforms spare room into 'WOMAN CAVE' complete with bar - in just a week

A mum has revealed amazing before and after pictures of how she transformed her spare bedroom into a 'woman cave' - complete with snazzy bar.

Carla Lister, who lives with son Tyler, six, in Rochdale, Manchester, did the amazing makeover by herself in just a WEEK.

The DIY dab hand dug out her tools after "feeling spontaneous" and began the labour of love which cost £400 in total, including the booze.

The silver and rose-gold themed room features a bar, seating area, as well as beer fridge and is perfect for when Carla fancies a girlie get together or time alone to unwind.

She has even installed fibre optic lights and decorated the walls with quirky signs, including one which jokingly lists her 'bar rules'.

"I love it," said Carla. "It's something I've always wanted and I'm going to enjoy it.

"Men get to have all the fun with their man caves, so I thought why can't women?"

The creative 38-year-old, who is chuffed with the results, used units from IKEA to create the bar and covered it with silver exposed brick wallpaper from The Range.

She picked up accessories, such as the shelves and a hexagon wine rack, from B&M, and a drinks dispenser, neon bar light, table and stools from Amazon.

Carla, who works as a carer, had initially wanted to create a 'woman cave' at the end of her garden, but after giving that a spruce she decided there wasn't enough room and she "went off the idea".

She then turned her attention to her spare downstairs bedroom.

"It came to me last week," she said. "I was Hoovering up and I thought this room doesn't get used, so I'd go for it in here.

"I did it all by myself. I used an IKEA cube unit and MDF for the bar area. And I used the remaining wallpaper to cover it.

"My sister couldn't believe it, she said she didn't think it would look like that. She thought the results were unbelievable."

The room is exactly how Carla envisaged it would be - and although she can't decide what her favourite part about it is, she's "very proud of the bar".

She is also hoping to use the room for small gatherings over the summer, while son Tyler also wants to get into the action and hold a quiz night in it.

The mum initially shared photos of her 'woman cave' on Facebook and has been inundated with praise.

One user said: "I don't know about anybody else but I'm soooo jealous."

Another added: "I love this I'd be in it all the time with that bar."

And a third commented: "It’s fab every woman should have one, great for girlie nights in."
