Mum transforms 'grotty old bookcase' into stunning sideboard using leftover paint and wallpaper

A mum has transformed a grotty old bookcase into a stunning hallway centrepiece using just leftover paint and wallpaper.

The amazing transformation was done by Tammy Scott who proudly shared the final results of her hard graft on the DIY on a  Budget Facebook page.

Tammy revealed she rescued the bookcase from her shed where it had been rotting away storing tools.

But determined to upcycle the unit, Tammy used leftover grey paint and leftover wallpaper to transform the look.

Using plant pots which she painted the same colour, she gave the bookcase legs and filled it with baskets and ornaments she already had at home.

Sharing her handiwork with fellow DIY mums, she said: "A little upcycle project from yesterday... remembered a grotty old bookcase we’d been using to store tools etc in the shed for a few years, a few coats of cabinet paint which I had in the cupboard, remnants of a role of wall paper, baskets I've had for donkeys.

"I spent £4 in charity shop on gorgeous yellow clock and vase, quite chuffed with it now although so much grey in my house its not funny."

Tammy's post received more than 600 comments from fellow mums impressed with her work.

One said: "Gosh you wouldn't recognise it from your before picture as being the same item. It's beautiful."

Another said: "Love it and love the colour of your staircase, very classy."

"Stunning. You've done an amazing job," said a third.

Another added: "Looks amazing, great idea I wouldn’t have thought of doing this!"
