Mum told she's 'won parenting' with sentence she tells kids that makes them stay in bed

As many parents of young children will know, getting a lie-in on the weekends is nigh-on impossible, especially when your little ones are running around at ungodly hours of the morning and pulling you out of bed before it's fully light outside.

But one mum has devised the perfect plan to stop her children from getting out of bed too early - and all it involves is telling them one sentence that will make them want to stay in bed.

Nicole DeRoy shared her hack in a video posted to TikTok in which she said all she has to do is tell her children that the last one to get out of bed has free reign to decide what the family does that day.

And because her kids all want their own choice of activity, they stay in bed for much longer than they would do if they didn't have a reason to.

In the clip, shared on Nicole's @nicolederoy account, she explained: "Told my kids that the last one out of bed this morning gets to decide what we do today."

She captioned the video: "Parenting hack."

And fellow parents in the comments were blown away by Nicole's simple yet effective trick, with some saying she is a "genius" and others claiming she had "won parenting".

One person said: "You just won parenting for the day."

While another added: "You’re out here playing chess when we’re all playing checkers."

As a third wrote: "Oh my god, that is genius!"

Some parents also shared their own ways of making their children stay in bed for longer, including telling them they'll have to "deep clean" their house when they get up.

A commenter posted: "I told mine that we're going to deep clean when they get up. I haven't seen them for 3 weeks."

And someone else stated: "I tell my kids I'm going for a lie down on my bed, ask them to wake me in 30 minutes so we can all start housework. Bliss."
