Mum told she needs to 'seek help' after admitting she has a favourite child

Parenting can be tough and if you've got more than one child it can get really tricky.

Some  days you're bound to get on better with one child than the other, that's just how it works, but at the end of it all you still love them all the same.

Or do you?

One mum has recently admitted that she has a favourite child and it's sparked outrage online.

The unnamed woman revealed that she has two sons, one age three and the other only 18 months, and she feels she has no bond with the older child and much prefers parenting the younger boy.

Mum admits she's 'embarrassed' by her daughter's name - and wants to change it

She explained all in a post on Mumsnet.

She wrote: "I am ashamed to say this... but I really do have a favourite child.

"I have two sons and the oldest is a real struggle for me and has been from day one. He is so intense and determined and he really overwhelms me. My husband is blessed with patience and really goes a lot more of the hard graft. They have a great bond.

"I really enjoy my second son, I feel like I understand him perfectly and I am 100% the most qualified to care for him in any situation."

Mum's anger as she lends friend a baby sling - and spots it being flogged online

She went on to say that she tries "really hard" to disguise her feelings and attempts to make an effort with her older son - taking him shopping just the two of them and organising lots of play dates for him.

But despite this she feels like she is "forcing a bond" which she can't make.

The mum added: "My own mother was cruelly unfair to my older sister and I really thought I could be a bigger person. Has anyone ever felt like this?"

Some people responded to say they had experienced the same thing.

Mums admit gross things they craved during pregnancy - including toilet cleaner

One person wrote: "Sad to say yes I do. My son is very hard work but we have an incredible bond. I had a dream birth with him and really did fall instantly in love with him.

"I had a very scary pregnancy and birth with my daughter and she was taken to NICU. I had PND with her and although we have bonded I find I have to make more of an effort with her."

Another commented: "My favourite changes depending on the day."

However other parents were appalled by her comments and suggested the woman seek "help".

A different user said: "You should probably seek therapeutic input not rather than wait until the patterns are set."

Someone else added: "I will say that no matter how hard you try to hide it your children will know as they get older. I certainly did with my parents and it left me with massive resentment towards them. Seeking help now would benefit both your children."
