Mum-to-be warned her baby faces 'lifetime of bullying' over her 'unique' name

A woman has been warned against giving her daughter a very 'unique' name, over fears that she will be bullied.

Many parents are influenced by modern themes when choosing a name from their child.

From popular films, TV shows and celebrities, there are a lot of topics to be inspired by when looking for a suitable name.

But one woman has been warned against taking inspiration from the coronavirus pandemic when considering names.

After all, many people won't fancy being reminded of it in the future.

And it could easily lead to some playground bullying from other children.

The name was not well received (reddit.com)

Her musings over giving her daughter a pandemic themed name were swiftly shut down after they were shared online.

In a group for expectant mums, the woman asked: "Thoughts on Covidlynn for a girl? Since I will be pregnant most of 2020 for her.

"My husband likes it but my mom is not a fan and said she will call her Covy."

The reaction to her question wasn't enthusiastic, with one person responding: "What about Quarantina? Just kidding. I personally wouldn't name my child after a virus that has killed a million people globally."

Another person replied: "Uhhh that's a no from me."

Her post was shared on Reddit where people had some excellent alternatives.

One person suggested: "Can we just start suggesting Cora* and Rhona now as suitable alternatives to this madness?

"Maybe we can head this awful trend off at the pass."

Another joked: "I had a baby in April and I totally missed the opportunity to name him Pandemichael. Darn."

A third asked: "Just why? Do you really want to set them up for a lifetime of bullying??"

A fourth commented: "I can't even see the connection between COVID and Lynn.

"She's just taken the name she was going to call the baby anyway and just bunged COVID in front of it?"

Meanwhile, one woman left people in stitches after she revealed how she trolled her family when they asked if she was having children soon.

She told how she makes up the worst baby names she can come up with to try and stop her relatives pestering her about future babies.
