Mum-to-be sure she can see late father on baby daughter's ultrasound

A pregnant woman has claimed her late father appeared in an ultrasound scan of her baby daughter due in April.

Shantel Carrillo, from San Diego, California, posted an image of the ultrasound on Facebook and, when people contacted her, she noticed the resemblance.

“People were messaging me saying it looks like someone is kissing your baby,” she told Kens5.

"People that actually knew my dad were like 'That looks like Chuck. That looks like your dad’."

She then went looking for a picture of her father, who died in 2016.

“I found a picture of my dad holding my first daughter and it’s like the exact same thing - it’s crazy,” she said, referencing the similar picture of his profile.

She then posted an image to Reddit of her father holding her first child, born in 2009, next to the recent scanned image, Yahoo News reports.

“My late father showing up in my second daughter’s ultrasound,” she wrote.

Her post quickly went viral over the weekend.

Some critics claimed the ultrasound was photoshopped, but Ms Carrillo insisted it is completely real.

Other people shared their moving life stories.

"My father died in May of 2017. Less than a month later, my wife went into labor at 25 weeks.

"As we were going to bed in the hospital one night I saw my dad leaning against the sink, smiling at us. I took that as a sign that he was watching over our son. The next day, our son was born.

"He was super early and tiny, but he was very healthy and has continued to thrive amazingly well. Thanks dad!" one person wrote.

Another social media user commented: "My mom's dad died a month before I was born. However my first memory I had was sitting in a chair and he was in front of me playing with me, saying 'ooga booga boo'.

"When I was older my mom was looking at old pictures and I told her about the memory. She looked at me very shocked and in disbelief that I could know this.

"That’s when she told me that it 100% happened just over a month before I was born, and one of her last memories of her father."
