Mum thinks son, 10, is 'UK's biggest Elvis fan' as he sets sights on job as top impersonator

A 10-year-old boy could be the UK's biggest Elvis fan, according to his mum - who says he has set his heart on a career as a professional tribute act. Ben Harris dresses up as The King and treats his family to non-stop renditions of the rock 'n' roll pioneer's biggest hits.

Ben has seen the 2022 film 'Elvis' more than eight times since it was released just a few months ago and spends his free time researching facts about his idol. He has even been nicknamed Elvis by his football team after they found out about his passion.

Rebecca Harris, mum to Ben and his older brother Jacob, 13, said: ''He spent most of December doing shows for the family. We actually have to put a limit on how many songs he can do for us, or he'd just go on and on.

''He's such a character and is just so into Elvis. He loves his music but it's also the whole history behind it too. If we ever get any Elvis facts wrong, we get put right very quickly."

Rebecca, a dental nurse manager, from Wednesbury in the West Midlands, added: ''I think his dream job when he grows up will be to be an impersonator. Ben's also obsessed with the idea of going to Graceland and or Las Vegas so we're going to have to frantically save up for that over the next few years.''

Ben has been fascinated with Elvis since spotting him on a Horrible Histories episode called Monstrous Musicians in November 2021. He immediately used his family Alexa to discover a range of Presley tunes, the first being 'Suspicious Minds'.

Rebecca, 42, scoured the internet to find him a £50 white, jewel-encrusted outfit for Christmas - as it was ''all he wanted''. Ben even has the glasses to match, which he insisted on wearing to a tribute act in November 2022.

Ben said: ''I like his style, especially his gemmed suits. I love his music because his voice really brings you in.

''I like the way he dances and shakes his hips. He was always really nice to his fans and signed autographs. I really like how he took pride in his music and wasn't scared of what other people thought.''

As well as his interest in Elvis, Ben also enjoys more typical hobbies like video games and football. ''His goalkeeper coach is also a really big Elvis fan so they bonded over that and now the whole team call him Elvis, which of course he loves,'' Rebecca - married to Ashley Harris, 40, an air-conditioning engineer - said.

''Ben's grandparents happened to be getting some work done on their house when the guy mentioned he was an Elvis impersonator on the side. Ben was over the moon and this guy has been to a few of our family parties which have been a laugh.

''Ben just loves it, it's so nice to see and he's not afraid to be himself which is the main thing. Jacob rolls his eyes a bit when Ben starts to sing and dance, but he just doesn't care.

''He's quite an extrovert really, he's very confident and a unique character. They really broke the mould when they made Ben. He's actually getting really into Titanic now too, so goodness knows what costumes I'll be buying next.''
