The heartbroken mum of a little lad knocked down in Blantyre last week has thanked the passers-by who raced to help her badly injured son.
Carriann Kirkland was distraught and devastated to learn her seven-year-old Alex Law had been struck by a car on Stonefield Road shortly after 5.45pm on Friday.
The mum-of-three raced to the scene to find an unconscious Alex being helped by some passers-by and emergency services.
The popular St Blane's Primary School pupil was rushed to Wishaw General where his condition is now stable.
However, tests revealed footballer Alex - who is due to start P3 next week - has suffered a fractured skull and swelling to the brain, as well as numerous cuts and bruises.
Worried sick, his parents Carriann and Kevin haven't left his bedside since he was admitted.

Carriann told Lanarkshire Live : "It's been the worst few days ever.
"Alex is one lucky wee boy as this could have been so much worse - we are just really thankful to everyone who helped him on Friday.
"From those who stayed with him and helped, called the emergency services and even those who had witnessed the accident and were able to explain to us what exactly happened; we really do thank you all for your assistance.
"No mother should have to see their child lying there like that - completely helpless. It broke my heart in to a million pieces.
"Everyone who knows Alex knows he is so full of life and always speedily running around, so this accident has certainly been a shock to us all and he will have to take his time with things and recover fully over the next few months."

Alex, who required oxygen and a drip all weekend, will now undergo further tests on the brain at the Glasgow Children's Hospital to check on the fracture. He will also be left with a significant scar on his forehead.
Carriann added: "He has been so sore and unhappy and has this big cut to his head, which they say will scar, and I've been absolutely heartbroken by it.
"But he's still as handsome as ever with his new look. We can live with him having a scar, we certainly couldn't live without him.
"He's also now off the oxygen and managing to keep food and fluids down thankfully, so really now it's about getting his balance stable again as he's a bit wobbly on his feet.
"We are hoping he gets home to his big brother and sister this week at some point."
Carriann told us how the family have been inundated with messages of support and well-wishes from people over the last few days, saying the family have been "overwhelmed" and that it "means so much to my family and Alex".
She added: "Thank you all very much. He really is such a well-known, popular boy, who is very lucky to be alive.
"He's our very own warrior."
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 5.50 pm on Friday, August 6, 2021, police received a report of a child having being struck by a car in Stonefield Road, Blantyre.
"The child was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital Wishaw for treatment."
