An emotional mum gifted her daughter a tummy tuck operation in front of a crowd of friends and family.
The toe-curlingly awkward announcement was made by Mary Cooper at a party thrown for her daughter Brittani.
The 16-year-old's loved ones had gathered to celebrate her graduating from police academy.
Mary called the teenager up in front of the assembled crowd to tell her she 'means the world to me'.
"I just want to tell you I love you so, so much," Mary says in scenes caught on TLC's sMothered show.
"And you have brought so much happiness to my life."
The glowing rundown takes a sudden unexpected turn when Mary explains that Brittani had a gastric band fitted a year ago.
She is greeted with bemused faces when she adds that her daughter has lost 100lbs.
"Brittani has wanted a tummy tuck because she lost so much weight she has a lot of loose skin around her tummy," Mary continues, holding back tears.
"I want everyone to know that I am going to pay for your tummy tuck that you have been wanting.
"We're going to go see her doctor and we're going to schedule her surgery. That's my gift to you."
Brittani’s friend Anastasia looks suitably aghast by the candid decleration.
She says: "If my mum made an announcement like that I would be a little embarrassed if I didn’t know about it."
Brittani takes the public body update in her stride however.
Speaking to the camera after the event she says: "No, it was not embarrassing because I’ve been through a lot.
"I’m a survivor. For me to go through what I’ve been through, like bullying and body image issues, look at me now.
"It makes me who I am today.
"I am so excited for my tummy tuck."
The TLC show focuses on the relationships between mothers and their daughters.
